Alfred Emile Leopold Stevens

Alfred Émile Léopold Stevens (1823–1906) was a Belgian-born painter celebrated for his refined depictions of fashionable Parisian interiors. Trained in Brussels and Paris, he became a central figure of the Second Empire art scene and was admired by artists such as Manet and Whistler. Stevens’ elegant style influenced American painters, especially the Boston School, and his works remain recognized for their precise detail, rich atmosphere, and connection to 19th-century French culture.
