Frederic Remington
Bronze Sculpture
Born Frederic Sackrider Remington in Canton, New York on October 1, 1861.
He traveled west when he was young and drew and sketched for many years.
He said of himself that "I know the horse!" Known as an athlete at Yale,
rather than an artist, he was not into academics, and quit to pursue a career in
art; recording the disappearing West. He began sculpting with his first bronze
the "Bronco Buster" copyrighted on October 1, 1895 and became famous and
successful as a sculptor. He died of appendicitis on December 26, 1909.
